Which products are included in the “Sensors & Alarms” category?
This category includes flow switches, temperature probes, level sensors, float switches as well as optical, acoustic and combined optical-acoustic alarm devices. They are used to monitor flow, temperature and level and to clearly signal faults or limit violations.
What are typical applications for flow switches?
Flow switches monitor flow in pipelines, for example in cooling and lubrication circuits, heating systems or process plants. They generate an alarm when the flow drops below a threshold or stops completely. This helps to protect pumps, heat exchangers and equipment against dry running, overheating or insufficient cooling.
Which types of temperature probes does PSE Priggen offer and how do I select the right one?
We supply various temperature probes such as Pt100/Pt1000 sensors, thermocouples and special surface or immersion probes. Important selection criteria are temperature range, medium (e.g. water, oil, air), required accuracy, mechanical design and connection type. If you describe your application, we can recommend suitable temperature sensors.
What is the difference between level sensors and float switches?
Both are used for level detection in tanks and vessels. Float switches operate mechanically with a float and change the contact state at specific levels. Electronic level sensors measure the level, for example capacitively or hydrostatically, and often provide an analogue output signal (e.g. 4–20 mA) for continuous evaluation in a controller or PLC.
What are the advantages of optical and acoustic alarm devices in industrial environments?
Optical devices (such as LED beacons) and acoustic sounders (sirens, horns) ensure that faults, alarms or hazardous conditions are recognised immediately – even in noisy or complex environments. Combined optical-acoustic alarm devices further improve attention and are ideal for machines, control panels and safety-related areas.
How can sensors and alarm devices be integrated into existing systems?
Most sensors and alarm devices offer standard electrical interfaces such as potential-free relay contacts, transistor outputs or analogue signals (e.g. 4–20 mA). They can be connected directly to PLCs, controllers, display units or SCADA systems. It is important to match voltage, switching capacity and IP rating to the existing installation.
Are the sensors suitable for harsh industrial environments?
Many of our sensors and alarm devices feature robust housings with high IP ratings, wide operating temperature ranges and good resistance to moisture, oils and chemicals. For particularly demanding applications (e.g. aggressive media, elevated temperatures) you should carefully check the technical data or contact us for advice.
Does PSE Priggen provide support in selecting suitable sensors & alarm devices?
Yes, we will gladly support you. If you provide information about process medium, temperature range, pressure, installation conditions and the required type of signalling, we can suggest appropriate flow switches, temperature probes, level sensors and alarm devices and ensure that they can be integrated smoothly into your existing control system.

In our Sensors & Alarms category you will find industrial sensors and signalling devices for monitoring plants, machines and media. The range includes flow switches, temperature probes, level sensors and signal / alarm devices for optical and acoustic indication.
Sensors for flow, temperature and level
Our sensors reliably measure process values such as flow, temperature and level. They provide the basis for safe and efficient process monitoring in industrial applications:
- Flow switches for monitoring flow in pipelines and cooling circuits
- Temperature probes (e.g. Pt100/Pt1000, thermocouples) for precise temperature measurement
- Level sensors and float switches for tank, vessel and level monitoring
Many sensors feature robust housings, chemical resistance and extended temperature ranges, making them ideal for use in mechanical engineering, process industry, energy systems and building services.
Signal and alarm devices for optical and acoustic warnings
To complement the sensors, we offer signal and alarm devices that provide clear warnings in case of faults, limit violations or hazardous situations. This includes LED beacons, acoustic sounders with high sound pressure levels and combined optical-acoustic alarm devices. They can be integrated into control panels, machine enclosures or building installations and are a key element of safety and alarm concepts.
Typical applications for our sensors & alarms
- Level monitoring in tanks, vessels and sumps
- Monitoring of cooling and lubrication circuits using flow switches
- Temperature monitoring in processes, systems and media
- Signalling of faults, limit violations and alarm conditions
- Safety technology in production plants, warehouses and utility facilities
By combining sensors and alarm devices you obtain a consistent monitoring and safety solution for your installations – from measurement to clearly recognisable warning signals.
